If you're interested in knowing more about me, here is a longer biography.

I've wanted to be an author since I was about twelve years old, when gripped by Goosebumps books, I decided that crafting a story and gripping people through a book was the greatest job imaginable.

From this point, I carried on being an avid reader and studied English Literature and Sociology at university, gaining a first class degree. I then pursued a career in journalism, figuring that it would enable me to meet lots of people and develop my writing skills - useful experience for an aspiring novelist.

After completing an NCTJ in newspaper journalism, I worked as a local newspaper reporter in Oxfordshire, covering all sorts of news from community campaigns, court cases, charity fundraisers, crime, etcetera. I loved this job, and it was great to be so involved with the local area. And I did indeed get character inspiration!

I then worked in various communications jobs, in PR for the British Red Cross, as a copywriter for luxury fashion retailer Farfetch, and as a reporter for a national paper. While working in these jobs, I was still reading intensely and dreaming of writing a book.

Eventually, I decided to take my dream a bit more seriously and set up a writing group where I was living, in Greenwich, London. Myself and a bunch of other aspiring writers would meet up every few weeks to critique each other's work. This was a hugely valuable experience and helped me improve my writing immeasurably.

During this time, I was working on a romantic comedy novel. Following the death of a close friend in my twenties, I had found myself drawn to uplifting, comforting books with happy endings, and so this was the genre I decided to write in, despite generally having had darker, more literary tastes.

Taking on board feedback from my writing group, and after many revisions, I eventually got a book deal for my romantic comedy with a Big Five publisher. My debut novel sold well, particularly on Apple, and I wrote another three romantic comedies for this publisher, as well as self-publishing a few too.

However, at this point, I realised my personal reading tastes were getting darker once more, and I felt compelled to write darker fiction, too.

I had been writing about nice men in my romantic comedies but had been encountering some toxic characters on the London dating scene, and these experiences inspired me to write something a bit more gritty. I ended up writing a novel about a MeToo serial killer of bad men – a woman who hunts down her prey using Tinder.

This novel, entitled Pretty Evil, was published at the height of MeToo in 2020 by indie press Bloodhound Books. Little did I know that a few years later, the trope of feminist vigilante serial killers would explode in publishing.

Since Pretty Evil, I have written another thriller, Someone's Watching Me, which is a suburban noir, as well as two horror novellas, Courier and All Expenses Paid. My voice as a writer has gone from happily ever after romcoms to jet black, edgy and even literary.

Dark fiction feels like my true home as a writer, and I am now working on my strangest novel yet, a dystopian horror novel which is best summed up with the word 'unhinged'. I can't wait to share it with readers further down the line.

Outside writing, my hobbies include painting (mostly abstract stuff), country walks, and being in nature as much as possible. I live in Oxfordshire with my dog, and I love camping, exploring, and dream of one day having a campervan and doing van life! I get slightly nervous about social media and being too online, a theme that has come out in a few of my books, including Courier and All Expenses Paid, but I do post on Instagram and TikTok here and there. I also send any bookish updates via my newsletter, which you can subscribe to here.
